A Slice of Fried Gold: A Manifesto

Stating one’s intentions when starting a new blog can be difficult. I know what my intentions for this blog are today, but who’s to say what that may involve into next week or next year?

I can tell you this: It’s gonna be cool.

The primary focus of A Slice of Fried Gold will be, for lack of a better term, geek culture. That’s going to include movies, television, comics, gaming and the like. Essentially, anything that I come across that makes me say, “How’s that for a slice of fried gold?”

Because this is a one man show, you’re more than likely going to see more film and television-related entries than anything else because that’s really my area of expertise. While I’m a big fan of comics and gaming, I don’t follow their development quite the way that I do film. As the site grows and I bring on collaborators, hopefully this will change.

That’s not to say that this is a movie news website. There are plenty of those to go around, with full-time staffs that can devote time to minute casting stories and posts devoted to blurry set photos. That’s not what I’m here for. While I will post the occasional bit of news (again, only things that I deem cool), the majority of the focus will be on the fans’ side of things. I love the idea that a movie or a TV show or a comic can inspire someone to create something of their own. Art inspires art.

So come along with me on this ride. I think you’ll dig it and you can hopefully watch the site grow with us. If you come across anything that you think is Fried Gold-worthy, feel free to submit it.

Thanks for reading,
