Jennifer Lawrence’s Horror Film House at the End of the Street Has a Trailer
Jennifer Lawrence is on a roll. She gets nominated for an Oscar for Winter’s Bone, she’s a part of the ensemble cast for last year’s best comic book movie and she’s currently starring in what might end up being one of the biggest blockbuster films of all time.
So what does her foray into horror bring? Well, a pretty darn good trailer for one thing. Also, what looks like it might be a good solid 90 minutes of Jennifer Lawrence in a tank top. I’m there opening night.
Ron Burgundy Announces Anchorman 2 on Conan.
Rumblings of an Anchorman sequel have been around ever since the first film was released (which is not surprising, given the film’s success), but Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Co. have been unable to come to terms with Paramount on the project.
Until now, it seems.
I’m curious to know what changed Paramount’s mind. I know that budget was a big issue for a while, being as everyone in the film’s price has gone up dramatically since the first. But Paramount passed even after all of the stars agreed to slash their salaries. If you look at /Film’s history of the Anchorman sequel, it’s essentially a long line of reiterations from Adam McKay and Will Ferrell that the sequel isn’t going to happen.
I’m glad that’s changed. Anchorman is one of the few films to which I welcome a sequel. I truly think it belongs on a list of the best comedies of all time, and it still stands up today, even after multiple viewings.
I can’t find the link right now, but I swear I remember McKay hinting that he wanted to do the sequel as a musical at some point. I’d love that, even if it’s more likely that development has moved it past that point by now (just one musical number then, Adam? Please?). Or how about Paul Rudd’s idea to set it in space?
New SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN Trailer Is Pretty Damn Awesome.
I never thought that when I first heard that someone was making a grim and gritty take on Snow White that it would end up being a movie that I was excited about. Really excited about.
But the first trailer made me stand up and take notice. This second trailer moves that notice into flat out anticipation. This looks like a blast.
Watch a New Trailer for PARANORMAN.
Paranorman is the latest stop-motion animated film from LAIKA, the company that brought us Coraline (and, once upon a time, The Noid).
It looks funny and charming and right up my alley.

Another AVENGERS Trailer Arrives and It’s the Best One Yet.
I’m already excited about The Avengers. If everything that we’d seen so far had been terrible, I’d still be excited by the simple fact that Marvel has really gone out on a limb and created the first cross-franchise comic book movie. The films success (or failure) will really dictate the way that comic book movie franchises will be handled from here on out.
But everything that we’ve seen so far has been… pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing. Nothing to make me get out of my chair and cheer. Until now.
This latest trailer is epic. It shows action on a scale that we haven’t really seen in any of the previous trailers and, most importantly, we really get to see all of these individual characters work together as a team. That’s going to be integral to the film’s success and if this trailer is any indication, it seems to be working.
Watch: Official Trailer for Gareth Edwards’ THE RAID (REDEMPTION?)
Sony Pictures Classics has oddly renamed Gareth Edwards’ The Raid as The Raid: Redemption. I can’t fathom why, but it doesn’t quell my enthusiasm for the film. This looks to be incredible and I’m jealous of everyone who’s already had a chance to see it. What do you think are the chances that this plays at ActionFest this year?
New Poster for The Woman In Black Pays Homage to Hammer’s Roots.
Although it’s being released in just a couple of weeks, I’ve seen very little marketing for The Woman In Black (granted, I don’t see a lot of live TV, so I could be missing TV spots), but what I have seen has been promising.
I especially love this new one-sheet that harkens back to classic Hammer posters. Will The Woman in Black be any good? We can hope. One thing’s for sure though: The marketing team is doing its job well.
The Woman In Black opens February 3rd.

Trailer: Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom
Few filmmakers get me as excited as Wes Anderson. I know there are many out there who tire of his schtick, but none can argue that he’s not a unique voice in modern cinema. And his new one looks like a winner.
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.
You can watch the trailer in HD at Apple.com. Moonrise Kingdom opens May 25th.
