Jennifer Lawrence’s Horror Film House at the End of the Street Has a Trailer

Jennifer Lawrence is on a roll. She gets nominated for an Oscar for Winter’s Bone, she’s a part of the ensemble cast for last year’s best comic book movie and she’s currently starring in what might end up being one of the biggest blockbuster films of all time.

So what does her foray into horror bring? Well, a pretty darn good trailer for one thing. Also, what looks like it might be a good solid 90 minutes of Jennifer Lawrence in a tank top. I’m there opening night.

This New Trailer for The Dictator Changed My Mind

Okay, I’m sold.

The previous trailer and TV spots that were released for The Dictator did nothing for me. Which made me sad, since I’m a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen and his films. But everything from those previous spots just felt so forced. And there was a Kardashian joke for Pete’s sake.

But from the looks of it, most of that stuff was from fairly early on in the film and, as it turns out, the movie’s got a bit of a plot, which you can get a feel for in this latest trailer.

With this trailer, which had a couple of moments that actually had me laughing out loud, you can see that Cohen is continuing his fish-out-of-water aspect that made Borat and Bruno so successful. The film has officially moved on from something that I was expecting to be disappointed by to something that I’m now really looking forward to.

This NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH Trailer Doesn’t Give Away Much

But is that a good thing?

There’s not a whole lot in this trailer that would indicate that it’s anything more than a typical Ben Still comedy about four dudes who decide to start a neighborhood watch. And what little we see here is funny, but I’m not sure that it’d be enough to make me want to see the film if I didn’t already know more about it. I assume that future trailers will give us a little bit more of the plot:

Suburban dads form a neighborhood watch group to get time away from their families, only to discover a plot to destroy Earth.

Now isn’t that a movie you’d rather see? Not to mention that it was written by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg (and directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer), who have a pretty great track record. I’m excited to see more about this.

Another AVENGERS Trailer Arrives and It’s the Best One Yet.

I’m already excited about The Avengers. If everything that we’d seen so far had been terrible, I’d still be excited by the simple fact that Marvel has really gone out on a limb and created the first cross-franchise comic book movie. The films success (or failure) will really dictate the way that comic book movie franchises will be handled from here on out.

But everything that we’ve seen so far has been… pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing. Nothing to make me get out of my chair and cheer. Until now.

This latest trailer is epic. It shows action on a scale that we haven’t really seen in any of the previous trailers and, most importantly, we really get to see all of these individual characters work together as a team. That’s going to be integral to the film’s success and if this trailer is any indication, it seems to be working.

Trailer: Computer Error: The Worst of CGI

At least once a week, something comes across my computer monitor that makes me want to up and drop everything and move to Austin just so that I can be near the Alamo Drafthouse. This is the latest thing to make me want to do so.

George Lucas. Michael Bay. “McG.” Bloated Hollywood billionaires who’ve built their empires on the shattered remains of our childhood dreams. Since the ’90s, the advent of computer technology has graced mankind with larger stomachs, unavoidable pornography, and the complete destruction of the film industry. Big budget movies used to be packed with daredevil stunts, ambitious effects work and innovative ingenuity. Now we’re treated to an aromatic buffet of Jar Jars, Shreks and even darker offenses. No thrills, no chills… just the 64-bit machinations of overpaid, Dorito-addicted studio schlubturds. Admittedly, most of America has been too dumb to notice, but anyone with two eyes and half a mind can see that movie magic is being violently murdered, and tonight WE FIGHT BACK!! CGI is hereby on trial, and we’re presenting enough evidence for you the jury to send it straight to the electric chair! So prepare yourself for a brutal barrage of twisters, scorpion kings, sharktopuses and farting little buddies, as we hack into the mainframe of CGI retardation and set that buuuuullshit on FIIIIRRRRE!!!

If you’re in or around Austin and don’t go to see this on January 31st, I pity you for not liking to enjoy awesome things.

Trailer: Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom

Few filmmakers get me as excited as Wes Anderson. I know there are many out there who tire of his schtick, but none can argue that he’s not a unique voice in modern cinema. And his new one looks like a winner.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.

You can watch the trailer in HD at Apple.com. Moonrise Kingdom opens May 25th.
